Bristol International Balloon Fiesta - Up, up and away

Ever dreamt of seeing the sky filled with colourful hot air balloons? Well, the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta is here to lift your spirits—quite literally. This annual gala, which is one of Europe's largest hot air balloon events, will feature multiple balloon ascents from today until August 11 at Ashton Court estate in Bristol. The Bristol International Balloon Fiesta began in 1979, thanks to a Scottish balloon enthusiast, Don Cameron. From its humble beginnings, it has grown into a massive event attracting hundreds of thousands of spectators. During the festival there are multiple 'mass ascents,' where up to 100 balloons take to the skies simultaneously.

The 'night glow' events are another crowd favourite. Balloons are tethered to the ground and illuminated after dark to music, creating a magical display of light and sound. There's also live music, food stalls and even an arts and crafts market. For the adrenaline junkies, there are air displays featuring planes and motorbike stunts. Feeling competitive? There are balloon races and even the British National Hot Air Balloon Championships. So, ready for lift-off?
